Standpipe & Piezometer Installations

Upon completion of drilling operations, a borehole is often installed with a slotted standpipe to facilitate follow-on gas and groundwater monitoring & sampling, where the installation is commonly installed within the made ground or sleeved through groundwater-bearing horizons. The installation is typically surrounded by a well-screen of washed pea-gravel and sealed off with a bentonite plug at the surface, before being capped off with headworks comprising a secure and trafficable steel cover.   

Boreholes can also be installed with single or multi-point porous-tipped piezometer installations to target separate water-bearing horizons within a stratified superficial aquifer. Alternatively, digital vibrating wire piezometers can be installed to monitor porewater pressure changes on slopes or to monitor staged loading/settlement of embankments over soft ground.
