Slit Trenches

Undertaken to inform the design of road-widening schemes or planned infrastructure projects in urban areas, where they are used in combination with a GPR survey to identify and mitigate risks to underground services.

Road openings are conducted under licence from the Statutory Authority, where the works are managed by an experienced Streetworks Supervisor, and are subject to strict traffic management controls.

Detailed plans and dimensioned sections for each slit trench are prepared by our Ground Engineer, who records the type, position, level and alignment of the identified utilities referenced to OS Datum and coordinates.

This allows Consultant Engineers to plan for any necessary service diversions in advance of the construction works.
